Cross Border Opportunities

Destiny Driver

Maximize Cross-Border Opportunities

Even though we don’t think about it on a daily basis, the future success of International Falls and Fort Frances are intertwined. We are two sides of the same coin.

Increased use of both sides of the border will allow us to expand our workforce, employee skill sets, and diversify our businesses and job offerings. This will attract and retain more people in our region as well as expand our outdoor recreational opportunities.

Together our communities will be stronger. By joining forces, we have more to offer our visitors, as well as ourselves. We now have the potential to reclaim much of the freedom that our international position has to offer and it is worth the effort to re-explore our international potential for the 21st century!

Points to Consider

  • Diversity in shopping and dining are invaluable in attracting both tourists and new residents.
  • Expanded opportunities for our arts, recreational, and cultural opportunities. Including everything from concerts to skating, dances to sporting events, as well as hobby and professional training.
  • Small towns often struggle to provide extended healthcare services locally. Our international community has a greater potential to retain and improve critical services such as obstetrics, surgery, dialysis, medical imagery and more.
  • With the nation’s busiest international rail port, there is untapped potential for value-added, free-trade services and employment at the border.
  • New and expanding businesses will be more attracted to a vibrant, international community.

  • Increased border crossings.
  • Joint marketing for tourism, retail opportunities, and events.
  • Beautification of the border crossing. Make crossing the border itself a fun and attractive thing to do.
