Workforce Development

Destiny Driver

Develop a Skilled, Trained, and Educated Workforce that meets the needs of the area.

In 2015, four studies were conducted in Koochiching County to acquire feedback from residents and business owners about the county’s assets and barriers. Two recurring topics of concern were an unskilled workforce and the lack of educational/training opportunities.

A key element in deciding to expand, relocate, or start a business is workforce availability and skills. In order to strategize how we can develop a 21st century workforce, an ongoing collaboration of local business, education, workforce development, government, and economic development leaders is necessary to determine workforce needs and the skills shortage.

The data collected through the efforts of this Destiny Driver will help the county “Voyage Forward” and grow into a vibrant and thriving region on its “Journey to Success”.
